AIN: Chicago Executive To Get Another FBO
05/07/2013
Fledgling FBO chain Hawthorne Global Aviation Services will be adding another location to its roster as it obtained development rights for a new FBO at Chicago Executive Airport (PWK). Hawthorne acquired the rights from Sovereign Development Group and will begin construction immediately on the facility, which will be the third FBO at the airport along with Signature Flight Support and Atlantic Aviation.
Plans call for a 10,000-sq-ft terminal along with 30,000 sq ft of hangar space. PWK sees 85,000 operations a year, making it the fourth busiest airport in Illinois. Located just eight miles from O’Hare International, PWK is home to 60 business jets and 10 turboprops. Its three active runways allow it to serve as a general aviation reliever airport for the region.
When completed in the first half of next year, the FBO will be Hawthorne’s first newly built facility and third overall, joining Long Island MacArthur Airport and New Orleans Lakefront.
A partnership between private equity firm Moelis Capital Partners and Hawthorne Corp., Hawthorne Global Aviation Services was founded in 2010 with the intention of establishing a new FBO chain.
