Hawthorne Global Aviation Services purchased Atlanta Executive Jet Center, the lone FBO at Cobb County Airport, as the fourth location in what the company plans eventually to be a nationwide network.
Cobb County, one of Georgia’s busiest general aviation airports, will become an international gateway next year with the addition of onsite U.S. Customs service. At 6,305 feet, the airport offers the longest general aviation runway in the Atlanta area, Hawthorne said.
The Shell-branded location features a 6,000-sq-ft passenger terminal with pilot lounges and conference facilities, along with 500,000 sq ft of hangar space capable of handling aircraft up to a G650. “We are excited at the tremendous opportunity that Hawthorne Atlanta represents for us as we set an anchor in another major metropolitan city,” said company president and CEO Steven Levesque. “With this acquisition, we now have a presence in the largest market in the U.S. Southeast.”
Hawthorne, backed by private equity firm Moelis Capital Partners, also operates FBOs at MacArthur Airport on Long Island, N.Y.; Chicago Executive Airport; and New Orleans Lakefront Airport.
