Robb Report: Avoid Game-Day Congestion, Heli-Shuttle to the Super Bowl
01/29/2014
On February 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., some 85,000 fans will attend Super Bowl XLVIII to watch the Seattle Seahawks take on the Denver Broncos. Robb Report has ample suggestions for where to stay for the big game, but getting to and from the stadium on game day presents another challenge, especially considering the harsh weather that has plagued the East Coast this winter (not to mention New Jersey’s recent traffic woes). Luckily, Hawthorne Global Aviation Services has an easy and elegant solution. For a $5,000 round-trip fee, travelers arriving at Hawthorne’s fixed-base operation at the MacArthur Airport on Long Island can take a 20-minute helicopter ride to New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport. From there, a private vehicle from one of Hawthorne’s car-service partners—which range from town cars to fully loaded SUVs—will ferry passengers the short five-mile drive to the stadium, allowing them to sidestep most game-day congestion and all of the headaches that go with it.
