AIN: FBOs Rev Up for Next Month's Super Bowl

01/13/2014

"As the New York area FBOs prepare for the onslaught of business aircraft arrivals at the Super Bowl little more than two weeks away, some continue to develop their plans and customer incentives. At NBAA’s Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference, which began today in New Orleans, Sheltair, which operates FBOs at five area airports (John F. Kennedy International, La Guardia, MacArthur, Republic Airport in Farmingdale and Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach), announced it has representatives at the show (Booth No. 902) to accept reservations and provide operational details. The Florida-based provider will be offering game-day events at those locations, double AVTRIP rewards points, and has waived its special-event fees. The company noted that hangar space at MacArthur and Republic is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hawthorne Global Aviation (Booth No. 1317), a service provider at Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, will be rolling out what it describes as its personalized private jet experience for customers heading to the big game. Located just outside of what will be highly congested airspace during the event, the FBO is offering easy access to New York City for pre-game festivities and to Teterboro Airport for the game itself, via a 20-minute helicopter ride. The cost of the round trip on the twin-engine helicopter is $5,000. The provider is also offering ground transportation to those locations is available."
